In a modern IT landscape, many business-critical workflow processes are executed automatically in the background. These are often not integrated into conventional monitoring systems. We are now closing this gap with two new n8n integrations.

What is n8n?

n8n is a powerful workflow automation tool. Thanks to its fair code approach and self-hosting capabilities, it stands out from the crowd. Its visual, node-based interface enables the seamless linking of applications and databases to automate complex business processes, acting as a flexible "glue" in the IT landscape by combining low-code efficiency with technical depth. This flexibility enables expansion with custom JavaScript code as required, making n8n ideal for scenarios where standard integrations are insufficient.

Integration #1 - Versio.io Event Umbrella Node

The Versio.io Event Umbrella Node establishes a native connection between n8n workflow automation and Versio.io's Event Umbrella management system. This integration allows workflow execution events to be consolidated in a central event management system and downstream processes to be triggered (notification, incident creation, actuator triggering, etc.).

Automated checks of external systems or the results of complex business logic are transmitted to Versio.io as structured events (including severity, trigger and message) and seamlessly correlated with the relevant configuration elements. This turns n8n workflows into active sensors that enable immediate operationalisation of results in the broader context of the IT landscape.

Integration #2 - Versio.io Lifecycle & Vulnerability Audit Node

The Lifecycle & Vulnerability Audit Node adds a powerful software and hardware product lifecycle and vulnerability assessment component to your n8n workflows. By querying the Versio.io knowledge base directly and specifying the manufacturer, product, and version, you can obtain real-time information about the security status of your software assets.

The node returns security-related results. This allows you to assess whether the latest release/version is being used, whether the version is under maintenance, whether it is a long-term support version, etc. In addition, publicly known security vulnerabilities (CVEs) for the respective version are detected. This allows you to seamlessly integrate security audits into your automation processes and proactively identify vulnerabilities.
