We have fundamentally restructured the Versio.io Host View. Previously, the platform used the same generic instance viewer for end devices and servers as it did for all other CMDB entities; however, in IT operations, this often meant increased effort was required to navigate the system and extract business-critical metrics.

Our motivation for this redesign is to significantly boost operational efficiency: the streamlined, dedicated Host View ensures that administrators can immediately identify a system as a host at a glance. To minimise the cognitive load during fault analysis, all system-relevant metrics, live telemetry data and configuration parameters are now presented directly in graphical form.

Instead of sifting through raw attributes, IT managers now have a single-page experience that provides all operational facts at a glance.

A 360-degree overview of core host metrics

This architecture consolidates live metrics, static configuration data and infrastructure links in a central location. Eliminating context switching massively accelerates root cause analysis and provides IT managers with immediately actionable facts for incident and asset management.

The following tiles summarise the systems status:

  • System - Provides fundamental hardware specifications such as logical cores, RAM and the critical last-reboot timestamp for patch management.
  • Operating system - Identifies the exact build version of the operating system as well as the historical primary user of the instance.
  • Volumes - Organises drives and storage capacities clearly by mount points, partitions and file systems.
  • Network interfaces - Distinguishes between physical and virtual interfaces and lists all historical MAC and IPv4/IPv6 addresses.
  • Monitoring - Visualises continuous real-time telemetry data, such as CPU utilisation, directly alongside static master data.
  • Installed software - Inventories all locally installed applications for licence management and direct comparison with CVE vulnerabilities.
  • Topology - Presents the host as a central hub and visualises direct dependencies on applications, services and processes.
  • Data centre - Precisely locates physical hardware within a data centre rack to directly optimise on-site maintenance.
  • Vendor warranty - Automatically queries the current warranty status from hardware manufacturers such as Dell or Lenovo via APIs.
  • Geolocation - Maps the exact geographical position of the end device or server to ensure compliance with local data residency requirements.
  • Periphery - Automatically detects connected peripheral devices such as desktop monitors, including manufacturer data, and links them topologically to the host.
