The Elastic Agent is a single, unified agent designed to simplify the collection of
various types of data from your hosts and infrastructure. It combines the functionality
of multiple dedicated data shippers, like the former Beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat,
etc.), into one streamlined package for logs, metrics, and security data. This agent
is centrally managed through Fleet, a web-based interface within Kibana, allowing
administrators to deploy configurations and updates to thousands of agents simultaneously.
Its primary purpose is to feed essential observability and security data into the
Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch and Kibana) for analysis, monitoring, and threat detection.
