What is OpenWrt?

Automate product release and end-of-life managementOpenWrt is a Linux distribution for embedded systems such as CPE routers, smartphones (e.g. Neo FreeRunner) or pocket computers (e.g. Ben NanoNote). OpenWrt provides a fully writable file system and includes the opkg package manager. This is particularly unique for use in CPE and WLAN routers. As of August 2020, the package sources contained more than 15,000 software packages. These can be used to comprehensively configure the router and add many features not supported by the device manufacturer"s firmware. OpenWrt Buildroot, the tool for creating your own images, is a heavily modified Buildroot.
